In the first semester basic sewing techniques were learnt. Both for men and woman. Hand sewing techniques are also practiced as much as machine stichting.

Strawberries’ skirt
The skirt was made from a pre given pattern , and was sewed in fabric bought and distributed by Strawberries Fabric B.V. All the fabrics are from an ethical source. The first skirt (2019) was made from bogolan fabric from Mali , and cotton poplin as lining. The second skirt (2020) was made from Shantung silk from Laos , and lined with silk.
The silk skirt was made between January and March 2020.

The skirt was finished with a silk bias.

Wide Trousers
These trousers are made of 100 % wool fabric. The trousers were first made to measure to a model , but then were tailored to a dummy. The model did try on the trousers later on. In these trousers can be found , a fly , bound pockets, split at the front of the legs. The trouser seams are finished with biais tape ( made from the same fabric as the lining ( acetate fabric.)).
These trousers were made between March/April 2020 and June 2020

Blouse Alexander Mc Queen.
This reproduction of an Alexander Mc Queen Blouse was made out of poplin. It was made to measure of an Alvanon dummy size 38.
The main features are the shirt collar , the cuffs with the split , and the fabric ruffle at the back, which is finished with a double sided bias. Most of the seams are french seams.
This blouse was made between June and July 2020.

Aus Licht / Vlisco / Cenerentolla
External projects with the National Dutch Opera ( Aus Licht 2019,Cenenrentolla 2020) / Helping with flower cutting for Vlisco i n 2019.
These projects help build teamwork while exercising sewing skills. All these project were made under supervision of the Meesteropleiding coupeur.

“Internship” by Laura Dols B.V
Between December 2020 and January 2021 I was able to work at the Laura Dols Bridal ateliers in Amsterdam. I helped with lace/beads repais on dresses , setting in buttons. I was also able to assist in the fittings of vintage bridal dresses with to be brides.
